Our Newest Project

Hello everyone. As I mentioned in the last post, though the blog has not been showing it, the group has been up to many things.
First I want to mention that this Saturday (tomorrow), Keep n' Stitches is being featured as the main presentation for Sabbath School at Spencerville SDA Church. Please come to hear about our past, present, and future.
In the meantime, our latest project is India. This project was suggested to us by the associate director of Women's Ministries at the GC and our group gladly took on the challenge.
We have been in contact with the J.J. Adventist Home, an orphanage in the district of Trivandrum. There are 13 children, ages 6-18, who live in this home, though it could hold 60. The majority of these children are girls. Each child needs to be sponsored to stay in the orphanage. It costs about $23 to give a child food and lodging for a month.
The conditions of the orphanage are poor, but habitable. They are served three meals a day, although in a recent e-mail it was mentioned that food is the most pressing need of the orphanage.
There is a church on the orphanage grounds but the children have to go to school somewhere else.
So how are we as a group helping? Our project is to make quilts; light, beautiful quilts for bedcovers that each orphan would get to keep as their very own. They have to be lightweight due to the heavy heat of the region. About 8 quilts have been made so far. If you are interested in helping out with this project or one of our on-going projects (baby blankets, shut-in ministry, day laborers, and the Lesotho/Maluti baby blanket ministry) please contact the Spencerville SDA Church and ask for the founder of Keep N' Stitches.
Oh, and in case you are wanting to contact the orphanage itself, here is the address:
J.J. Adventist Home
Mundamala, Manchavilakom PO
Trivandrum
Thank you for reading and I ask that you please pray for us as we continue with this ministry.

The Sweaters Have Arrived!

We just recently heard that the sweaters have safely arrived and were met with great pleasure by the Roma girls. The coordinator of the The Roma Project, Megan Mays, sent us some photos of the girls when they got their sweaters, hats, and scarves. We have them below. Enjoy.

Thanks to all those who made this wonderful project a success. We hope to see more pictures later on. And we hope that our next project will be just as wonderful and full of blessings as this one. May God continue to bless this ministry and all those involved in it.
